An International Symposium on Emerging Trends in Deep Learning and Data Analytics (ET-DLDA ’23)

The Laboratory for Data Science and Analytics (LDSA), Department of Computer Science, South Asian University, New Delhi, India organized a one-day symposium on the “International Symposium on ‘Emerging Trends in Deep Learning and Data Analytics (ET-DLDA ’23)” at South Asian University in New Delhi, India, on June 15, 2023. The speakers for the symposium were Prof. Mohammed J. Zaki, Head of Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York, USA, and Dr. Lipika Dey, Principal Consultant & Chief Scientist at Innovations Lab, TCS.

Prof. Mohammed J. Zaki, a very renowned speaker in the field of Data Mining & Deep Learning, delivered a series of expert talks on very recent emerging topics, such as Transformers and Attention, using techniques such as BERT, GPT, ViT, Graph Transformers, and Diffusion Models. Dr. Lipika Dey delivered a talk on “Right! Wrong! May be! – Are you sure dear LLM?” discussing the hallucinations of Generative Models and what they mean for the industry.

The symposium brought together experts from academia and industry to share ideas and discuss the techniques to harness the full potential of deep learning and data analytics techniques to make machines more intelligent. The agenda of this symposium was to discuss various data analytics and deep learning tools and techniques, recent developments and challenges in the field, and evolving future research directions. Researchers, Faculties, Ph.D. Scholars and students from prominent institutes in India, including IITs, IISER, Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University For Women, Jamia Millia Islamia, University of Delhi, Aligarh Muslim University, Manav Rachna University, and Chandigarh University attended the symposium.
