The students, faculty and staff of the South Asian University express their heartfelt condolences on the untimely and sudden demise of our President, our leader, our friend, philosopher and guide in all situations, our own Professor G.K. Chadha. He was a person of high ethics, humility and charm. Everyone who came into his contact; whether a faculty, staff or a student felt his warmth and established a direct bond with him forever. His touch is visible everywhere in the University and above all is felt in our hearts.

Professor Chadha was one of the greatest advocates of cooperation and friendship in South Asian Region. He used to call himself a citizen of SAARC. In his sad demise, the people of South Asian region in general and South Asian University in particular have lost a great academician, a visionary, a humanist and a proponent of regional cooperation and development.

The entire SAU community conveys its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

  1. I express my heartfelt condolences on the untimely and sudden demise of Prof. Dr. G. K. Chadda the Founder of SAU. I know he will never be present with us but will be remaining with us in our memory. I had a chance to know him when I was a PhD student at JNU. My best honour to him. May the departed soul rest in peace.

    I am Ratan Chandra Roy, from Bangladesh. I want attend exam for MSc program at SAU. I am studying CSE at Jagannath University, i have already completed my Final year Lab and Thesis exam, but my final year project is running. My result will be publish at March or April. If in Application deadline my result will not publish, then should i attend the exam?
    Please let me inform.

  3. when i heard that our president is no more i can’t believe that because he was in lift at the same day.
    i didn’t find such kind of simple man in my life. with my deepest condolence i pray to Allah give him peace .

  5. When I am taking preparation for SAU entrance test in February 2014 in that time I heard a welcome greeting by Sir Professor GK Chadha about South Asian University. But I don’t know in the mid time Sir has gone forever. Fortunately I got chance in this University and after getting admission someone confirms me Sir is no more with us! It was unbelievable, I always miss you in this campus and I still listening your voice. I know will you will never come again but you will be remaining with us. My best honour to you.

    I only came to know of this just now.
    South Asia has lost a great teacher.
    The world has lost a great visionary who understood and inspired anyone who came in contact with him to believe that education is the strongest pathway to understanding, harmony and peace.
    The SAU has lost its benevolent Father and driving spirit.
    I have lost a very dear friend and mentor.
    He was my philosopher, guide and “elder brother”. He taught me the value of peace, the greatness of humility and friendship and the importance of being devoted to a higher cause. I will always be indebted to him.
    He gave me the privilege to be associated with the SAU as a member of its Founding Academic Task Force. His guiding role in every aspect of the design of the University will always be a glowing tribute to greatness and commitment.
    Professor Chadha you have found everlasting peace. May the rest of us in South Asia for whom you struggled so hard and so long also find the peace, harmony and prosperity that you wanted for us. Amen.

  9. I have yet to see in my life a great academician, administrator and above all super human being who considered others agonies as his own. I know how difficult for his family members to bear this loss. Though physically he is no more with us , but will remain in the hearts of all those who came in contact with him not to talk of years, months and days even for few minutes. There is no doubt that with the karma he has done, his soul must be in peace.
